Skin cancer warriors:
Was there a person in your life who cared for you during your diagnosis and treatment?
"My husband (at home, and surgeries) and my twin sister was there during a very scary surgery too. Thank God for my family."
"My sisters, parents and husband the first time. This time around it’s been hard for parents and sisters because of COVID. My husband has done most of the caring but since he is not allowed anywhere with me I take myself to my appointment."
"My sister stayed with me for a few days after my surgery. During my initial diagnosis, I talked to a coworker every now and then. She had gone through the same thing a few months prior."
"Took care of my dad every step of the way. He did a year and a half of chemo and radiation. Unfortunately, the skin cancer was stronger than the treatment, and he passed away in 2016. Prayers to everyone going through this. It wasn't an easy fight at all for my dad."
"My youngest daughter was away at college for most of them and I told her not to come home. She called every day, sometimes several times a day. The one she was home for (over the Christmas holiday) she took very good care of me. She’s the best!!"
"Yes, my wonderful wife, took me and drove me home. She helped me for 2 weeks post op. She is my life and my best friend that I love!"
"Yes, my husband of 50 years. This year I have had 5 operations to remove melanomas from my face and he has been by my side for everyone. He is my world and my rock."
"My mom and husband. But mostly my mom. My hubby had to work to pay our bills. And my sisters and granny helped with my kids."
"My daughters were there for me through ups and downs after surgery come close to losing my eye and left side of face badly scarred and eye won't fully open but am very lucky to get through it."
